When thinking about adopting, the first question you should ask yourself is whether you fit the requirements.
The fact is that there are restrictions on who can or cannot undergo the procedure. Not so long ago it was practically impossible for foreigners to pass this procedure.
Also take into account that during the war, such an option as adoption is basically unavailable. Although you can think about guardianship or, if you have already found a child in Ukraine, another form of care for him, until certain decisions are made at the state level.
As a general rule, the adoptive parent must be a capable person 21 years of age or older. There is also a mandatory age difference between the adopter and the child - at least 15 years.
As for the prohibition of adoption, almost all the criteria are set to take care of the child's welfare. This applies to possible diseases in potential parents, criminal records, etc.
Separately, we would like to note, that at the moment, married same-sex couples, unfortunately, can not adopt a child.
